How Do I Setup a Rule to Filter My Spam Messages?

The following procedure will created a rule on your Outlook 2000 email client to filter out messages that are highlighted with the words ***SPAM*** and move them to a Spam folder you have created.

1. Open your Outlook email client, and click the right mouse button over your Inbox

2. Choose "New Folder" from the Pop Up window

 

3. Enter "Spam" as the new folder name (you can enter a name of your choice if you wish)

4. Click OK

 

5. From the Tools menu, choose "Rules Wizard"

 

6. In the pop up window you can now add a Rule to filter out your spam

7. Click New on the right hand of the pop up

 

8. Choose the radio button for "Start a blank rule"

9. Choose "Check messages when they arrive" in the first window

10. Then click Next

 

11. In the next window check the box for "with specific words in the subject or body" in the top window

12. In the bottom window choose "with specific words in the subject or body"

13. Click the words Specic Words that are highlighted in the bottom window

 

14. In the next pop window enter the words ***SPAM*** in the first box and click Add to add it to the list

15. Then click OK

 

16. In the next window choose Move it to the specified folder

17. Click the word specified that is highlighted in the bottom window

18. In the next po up window, browse to the folder Spam you created in steps 2 and 3above

19. Then click OK
